In our Teacher Training programs, we provide a uniquely modern, individualized and integrated approach to the ancient science of yoga. The ISHTA lineage and teachings provide a comprehensive foundation for all aspects of yoga. We cover asana, the practice and teachings of the subtle and causal body anatomies, pranayama and kriya techniques, meditation, Tantric philosophy, and Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of life. Through in-depth daily asana practice, posture labs, practice teaching, anatomy, and lectures on topics ranging from the energetic bodies to neurophisiology, the ISHTA-trained practitioner is able to approach and embrace yoga in all of its forms. We provide exclusive and copyrighted manuals and are a Yoga Alliance - registered curriculum. Our yoga teacher classes ensure that every trainee has a personalized and enriching experience of their own as well as the opportunity to teach, learn, explore, and become a certiified yoga teacher.
The ISHTA Yoga Teacher Training program was created and is taught in part by Yogiraj Alan Finger, one of the preeminent Western Tantric teachers of our time. Personal study with Alan and his senior teachers offers a wealth of yogic knowledge and an experience that is profound and life-changing!
About ISHTA Yoga Teacher Training
ISHTA Yoga is a growing world-renowned system of yoga founded by Alan Finger and taught in the United States, Australia, England, Canada, and Japan. ISHTA teacher training programs are regarded as some of the most well-rounded and in-depth curriculums in the industry. ISHTA trains its teachers to acquire and master the skills needed to excel in group classes of all levels, private lessons, corporate lessons, and specialty yoga classes. The courses include studies in the following areas: meditation, asana, postural alignment, pranayama, Tantric philosophy, yoga history, anatomy, Sanskrit, pre-natal yoga, restorative yoga, injury management, voice and a whole lot more. ISHTA trainees study not only the above-mentioned principles of yoga, but also themselves. They therefore come out of the teacher trainings feeling confident and ready to practice and teach what they have learned if they do indeed decide to teach. Some trainees emerge from the yoga teacher classes happy to have enhanced their knowledge of ISHTA Yoga but less interested in actually teaching it. ISHTA Yoga supports all personal journeys.
About ISHTA Yoga Teacher Trainers
Each ISHTA Yoga teacher trainer is highly skilled to teach the essential topics in teacher trainings. Prior to becoming trainers, they spend many years apprenticing Alan Finger to hone their own skills and knowledge of the key subjects. They are also required to teach their own yoga classes for many years as well as to assist trainings before they lead teacher trainings. The ISHTA Yoga teacher trainings prepare teachers to be able to engage students of all kinds and with varying needs. ISHTA offers a wide range of practices to the trainees that are similarly offered on the ISHTA class schedule. From meditation to core flow, to restorative yoga and basics yoga, ISHTA teachers learn to teach it all. It is then up to each individual instructor to choose a specialty area if they so desire and to continue to work with their training mentors to expand their knowledge of that discipline.
The possibilities of what any one person can get out of ISHTA Yoga Teacher Trainings are limitless. All that is required is the hope to learn.
There are three levels or classifications that apply to teachers once they have completed the ISHTA Yoga Teacher Trainings.
