Energetic Listening with Wendy Newton

As yoga teachers we know that underneath the surface, everything is made of energy and that the world is governed by the principles of rajas, tamas, and sattvas. But it can be difficult to carry this understanding into every moment of our living, and especially into our work with students and clients in the real world. This workshop will explore how to practically apply that esoteric knowledge to the teaching relationship. Through a series of experiential exercises and discussion, participants will gain a new perspective on effectively listening to and interacting with students both privately and in group classes.

 

Concepts introduced will include:

 

--Evaluating and working with the energy of a class or private client

--Holding a safe and sattvic teaching environment

--Creating rapport with students

--Practicing reflective listening and non-verbal pacing

Bio:Wendy is a senior teacher at ISHTA Yoga and a lead trainer in the ISHTA 200 and 300 hour teacher training programs. She is also certified in Polarity Therapy, a form of energy work based on the ancient understandings of samkhya philosophy and ayurveda. Her practice and her teaching explore the sacred within the mundane and inspire students to gain experiential understanding of the subtle energetic principles at the heart of the practice of yoga. 

 

Cancellation policy - Full pre-payment at the time of enrollment is required to reserve a space in workshops. Refunds are given for cancellations made 48 hours or more prior to workshop start date. Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to workshop start date are non refundable. If ISHTA yoga cancels the workshop, a full credit or refund will be issued. ISHTA yoga reserves the right to amend this policy at its discretion on a case-by-case basis.
